Dr. Lauren Novak
Dr. Lauren Novak was born and raised in Grayslake, IL (a Chicago suburb). After high school she attended Augustana College in Rock Island, IL where she completed her undergraduate degree in Biology in 2013.
She was accepted into the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine and completed her degree in 2017. Following veterinary school, Dr. Novak completed a small animal rotating internship at VCA Aurora Animal Hospital in Aurora, IL. She studied under many specialists and gained extensive experience in emergency medicine. Her veterinary interests include zoological medicine -including 3 years working with over 300 chimpanzees at the world's largest chimpanzee sanctuary- emergency medicine, critical care, and surgery. Dr. Novak is excited to use the wonderful resources at Airline Animal Health and Surgery Center and provide advanced and thorough veterinary care for our patients.
Dr. Novak is in a relationship with her partner Ariah Mousavizadegan, a native of Richmond, VA. They are active in their community and love spending time with their four-legged kids including dogs Chase and Winston and cats Mia and Tristan.
In her spare time, Dr. Novak loves to travel - especially to do continuing education and veterinary medicine. She has worked at a wildlife sanctuary in Limbe Cameroon with chimps, gorillas, mandrills, baboons, drills, monkeys, parrots, crocodiles, and more. She then traveled to Nicaragua four times over the course of her career to help with spay and neuter campaigns and community medicine involving cattle, dogs, chickens, and more. She has also completed a OneHealth program in Costa Rica focusing on ecosystem health, birds, bats, reptiles, and more. Dr. Novak also volunteer coaches youth volleyball at the YMCA year round and is a huge Illini volleyball fan.
